Announcements
It is with great sadness that we note the passing after a long illness of John Quigley on Saturday, May 12, 2012.
John did fundamental empirical work in urban economics and trained generations of researchers. He played a key role in founding the Urban Economics Association and the association mourns his passing. To those who knew him personally or worked with him, John was a marvelous, fun, and generous person -- as well as a great economist.
A memorial event for John's family, friends, students, and colleagues will be held on the Berkeley campus on the afternoon of June 9. As plans are made, details will be posted at:

Welcome
The Urban Economics Association is an informal association, whose members are economic researchers with a focus on urban topics. The group seeks to promote participation and excellence in academic research in urban and regional economics.
The UEA welcomes all those in the economics profession with an urban related component to their research and encourages the participation of economists in the RSAI North American Meetings and European Congress, where a set of sessions are organized each year by the Urban Economics Council. These sessions are formed of high quality papers dealing with the economics of cities, housing, real estate, local public good provision, and the distribution of economic activity in space. The Urban Economics Council is an established council operating under the umbrella North American Regional Science Council (NARSC) organization.
